Pig-in-Progress Update!
Pig is starting to emerge. Thought I’d share a little on my process: First I made the body shape using basic polyester filling (that’s what the white part is). With needle-felting the more you “punch” the material with the barbed needle the firmer/more compact it becomes (it’s like sculpting with fibers). Depending on the size it can end up taking alot of material so it’s better to conserve your wool and use the cheaper polyester for the core. After I had the basic shape of Pig’s body I started laying down the colored wool on top. Sometimes it’s hard to find the exact colors needed-most of Pig’s colors I was able to buy except for his nose color which I made myself by dyeing white wool with red Kool-Aid…gotta think creatively sometimes. I’ll be making the arms and legs separately and attaching them later; his clothing may be the biggest challenge and I’m still brainstorming on how to go about it but hopefully it will work….
